Pro-lifers help abortion agenda in Indiana

h4l-icon-01-3

Does a fetus have the right to live? This is the big question when dealing with policy on the life issue. If you stand with the pro-abort community you would obviously say no. If you stand with the pro-life community you would tend to say yes… or would you?
A trend that happens among pro-lifers is the addition of these words into their vocabulary, “I am pro-life with exceptions.”

Most agree on the conservative side of the fence that life has value, that every person has the right to live, and that abortion is the greatest offence towards an individual in the womb.
However, many actively standing with the preborn are also saying that they have exceptions for such things as rape, incest, health of the mother, etc.

Why is this a big deal?

In an article that I recently read by a pro-death advocate, I realized why this is not only a huge insult to the pro-life effort but also a way to advance our oppositions agenda. How could having exceptions for such emotional cases such as rape, be a promotion towards the abortion industry?

It’s simple, the abortion supporters love pro-lifers that have exceptions to their moral compass. These exceptions tells them that you are willing to negotiate the lives of certain children depending on their conception circumstances.

What may seem like a good solid stance for a life advocate, now tells the opposition that you can say you are “pro-life” but there is a pocket of compromises you are willing to use, if a child’s circumstances fits into that criteria.

The writer states, “By compromising their ‘right to life’ in order to accommodate a women’s rights, they inadvertently acknowledge that women’s rights are more important than the ‘right to life’ of the fetus.”

While having exceptions to your pro-life stance may seem like a good place to plant your feet, you in turn are increasing the efforts of abortion and forming a stronger platform for them to continue butchering babies on the pretense that it’s a women’s right.

They love people with exceptions.  She states, “They are our biggest advocates for abortion.”

If you are currently a pro-lifer, I encourage to take an all or nothing stance. No child’s life should be negotiated or compromised because of the circumstances involved in their conception. If we believe that every person has the right to live, then that means you cannot support the allowance of abortion in some instances.

Your compromise has to stop and you have to take a stronger stance against the killing of children in order to make a difference in the lives of the pre-born. If not, this writer feels you may as well crawl over the fence and stand on the side of the abortion advocates and hold a pro-choice sign.
In Indiana we have many who say they are pro-life and many who compromise. I encourage you to re-evaluate your point of view on this issue and find the strongest position you can possibly take, and then stand there.
Join efforts with Hoosiers for Life as we introduce the strongest piece of pro-life legislation to ever be presented to the Indiana legislature. We are posturing ourselves to advocate for Hoosier babies with no exceptions and no compromise.

I don’t want to share Heaven with HER!

Here I am loving all over Jesus, raising my hands in the air, singing my heart out like He’s right above me smiling down and so pleased.  Just ready to do His will, whatever He may ask of me…send me where you want me to go, tell me what you would have me do, I’m ready to say yes to anything you want Lord!!!

 ….then she walks in.

What is she doing here?

I don’t want to share my church with her!

My worship time!

My friends!

My life!

All of a sudden, Jesus is no longer the center…she is.

This “whoever she/he may be” changes your priority and becomes the focal point of all your time, energy, and mental activity.  She ultimately becomes who you worship!

I know, I’ve been there.

There was a time when I was so incredibly engulfed by someone else, that I took my eyes off of God altogether.  I may not have said I did at the time, but I did.  I thought more of “her” then I did of Him.

Why?

Because this person hurt me.

This person had me entangled in a snare that caused deception and pain.  She was someone I trusted and cared for and she let me down.  She painfully hurt me in a way that I could not forget or forgive & I didn’t want to share my God with her.

Have you been there?

Surely there is someone who you would rather not walk side by side with into the pearly gates, maybe rather race her there and shove her to the side so you can enter first…

Ok, that’s a little harsh.

Maybe you just want to have Jesus brush your hair and tell you what a good girl you are in front of this person, just so she knows how much more He loves you and how it hurt Him that she did you dirty!

That would be just a few random thoughts that go through my mind when I’m spending time on the un-forgiving side of life.

It’s true..without sugar-coating it, forgiveness is by far the hardest thing to do next to martyrdom.

It requires a selfless mindset of letting go, offering your shirt when they stole your pants mentality.

It’s tough.

It’s feels abnormal.

It’s requires Jesus.

Why is forgiveness important?

* IT IS YOUR SALVATION

First point, main point, don’t want to miss this point!!  Salvation!  You need it, want it, have to have it…Matthew 6:14  For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

And there it is…the top reason.  You are a functioning part of the body of Christ.  You also are a resemblance of His attributes.  Essentially, you do as He does.  He is willing to forgive your junk and as His child you are required to do the same to others.  If not, it is as your saying that it’s not worth it for you to forgive, and so he states in Matthew that if you don’t, then He wont either.

What if they are un-forgiveable, have a nasty attitude, or are not apologetic?  What if they are non-deserving or a slanderous mockery of you?

Then you are obedient anyway.  It is to your benefit to listen & obey, so you buck up and do it anyway!

If not, you will be “dealt” with…Matthew 18:35 says “So also My heavenly Father will deal with every one of you if you do not freely forgive your brother from your heart.”

* IT’S A FREE ANECDOTE

Second point is that it’s a remedy that you need to store in your cupboard at ALL times.  You will use it often, it’s free, and has simple instructions to use.

Only one word describes the inflicted disease.  BITTERNESS.

This acute problem can hinder many things in your life, YOUR LIFE, note that I’m not talking about the person who you can’t forgive.  I’m talking about you…me.  Your life will be hindered if you choose not to forgive.

Worship will be hindered, The Spirit will be hindered, and your relationship with Jesus will be hindered.

How important is it to wake every morning, open the cabinet, and take a swig of this??

It’s vital!

Forgiveness can save a marriage, restore a family, heal a friendship, or just free you from keeping your eyes on things outside of your priorities.  It has the power to do much more then you think or see, obeying in this gives you life, disobeying in this can render agony, heartache, depression, and jealousy, but most of all it will keep your focus on something other then what’s important.  It can separate you from your life source and rob you of your inheritance.

* IT’S A ROUND HOUSE KICK

I’ve never been able to get my leg up that high but this is one way to round-house kick right into the enemy’s mouth!  He is the one who reminds you day after day how you have been hurt, spewing details, & forming assumptions.  It is his lies that hold you back from freedom.  Unforgiveness = Bondage, and he knows that!

He enjoys to hear you complain about other people, he also likes to hear you reminiscence on how terrible you feel about it all!

Break free, bring up your leg, fling yourself around, and kick him right in his big fat mouth of lies!

I know you have a warrior spirit in you!!  Continue to fight until you are free!

Pray for your enemies, pray about them, pray when your crying, pray when your mad..there is never a bad time or a wrong way.  It opens up reconciliation not just between people that are hurt, but between you and the Lord.  That is what you need.  That is what rescued me.

It’s a power tool.  It’s a weapon and Jesus wants you to use it every single day.

Forgiveness is for your sake, your benefit.  It will bless you as you use it and it will restore things that are broken that you didn’t even know had a fracture. It may not even be a “her” that is afflicting you, it may be a “him” or maybe even a past event or thing you have not let go of.  I encourage you to give it to God today.  Give it all to Him…then do it again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next, until you are completely free in Christ!

A good place to start if you don’t know how to begin is to say something like this,

Lord,

I want to forgive them because you want me to.

It’s hard and I need you to help me.

Help me change my mindset and focus on your forgiveness in my life, so that I may understand why it’s so important for me to imitate you in this.

Help me pray for them as you would have me to do.

Change my heart to be more like Yours.

Then  you could also add something like…

Lord, please forgive them also..for they don’t really know what they have done to me.

(I actually know a man who said this right before he was murdered on a cross)

My Uterus trumps your God

pence1

Abortion activists are proudly sending Gov. Mike Pence coloring pages of genitalia.  What they think this may accomplish is still unclear.

Indiana is under some attack due to a new bill that attempts to stop abortion due to genetic diagnosis of the preborn baby.

LifeSite News writes yesterday, “Fuming, abortion activists also launched a series of juvenile campaigns to attack Pence and the pro-life legislators who supported the life-saving law. Ignoring that the purpose of the law is to protect unborn babies, abortion activists have been claiming the law is all about controlling women’s reproductive organs.

Periods for Pence, a campaign that encourages women to harass pro-life lawmakers with calls and messages about their menstrual cycles, came first. Now, Indiana abortion supporters are taking their crude efforts a step further with the “Color Your Junk for Mike Pence” campaign.

Last week, a small group met in Indianapolis to color coloring book pictures of male and female reproductive organs and write messages to the pro-life governor. The Facebook page advertised the event for “all ages.” The group organizers said they planned to hand deliver the coloring pages and a petition in protest of the law.”

Today on their FB page they posted a call to action:

I woke up this morning, and my peapod is pissed off! Let your fingers do the walking, and your vaginas do the talking! (I know, that makes no sense whatsoever, but all of you know what I mean.) Here’s a little jam to get you pumped for your midweek check-ins!
Pencey-poo: 317-232-4567
The Diva: 317-232-6807 ‪#‎freemaureen‬
Sister-wife: 317-232-9769
And, someone should really call and check on Casey Cox’s whereabouts. I’m worried. 317-232-9863

Some may find humor in this but Pro-lifers don’t find discrimination and death funny.

The Indiana law is the second in the nation to ban abortions based on genetic disabilities like Down syndrome.  The Indiana law also has several other abortion-related measures, including a requirement that aborted or miscarried babies’ bodies be cremated or buried and another requirement that abortionists who have hospital admitting privileges renew them annually.

The voice of the anti-life establishment tends to be louder at times but there is no doubt that Indiana is still a conservative pro-life state.  The majority of Hoosiers support pro-life bills and the agenda to stop abortion.  I encourage those that stand for life to call Gov Mike Pence and leave a message of support while he is under incredible pressure from the pro-death groups surrounding the statehouse.

Mistaken identity of Taylor University student

The Muncie Star Press ran a story today about a Taylor University student who had a unique case of mistaken identity, one that Hoosiers will never forget.  Ten years ago, a horrific crash killed five people and resulted in a case that became international news.

The Star reports, “The crash occurred on the evening of April 26, 2006, according to Fox59. Nine people were riding a Taylor University van on I-69, returning from Fort Wayne after setting up for a luncheon the following day. Just after 8 p.m., the van was a couple miles from the Marion exit at State Road 18 when a semi truck came across the median and struck the van. Investigators would later learn the driver of the semi, Robert Spencer, had fallen asleep at the wheel before running off the northbound roadway.

The crash killed Taylor University students Brad Larson, Laurel Erb, Betsy Smith, Laura Van Ryn, and university staff member Monica Felver.

In the chaos that followed, emergency workers at the scene of the crash mixed up the identities of Laura Van Ryn and Whitney Cerak. Cerak had survived the crash, but her face was covered by bandages due to a head injury. Van Ryn’s parents arrived at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, unaware that their daughter had died, and the injured and bandaged young woman in the hospital bed was actually Cerak. Meanwhile, Cerak’s family was told Whitney had been killed, even though she was alive and unconscious at the hospital.

The identity mix-up occurred when an emergency responder mistakenly clipped Van Ryn’s student ID to the injured Cerak. When Cerak’s family arrived at the hospital, they were told that no ID on the body was needed. Days later, about 1,400 Taylor University students attended the funeral and burial for Cerak. But it was actually the body of Van Ryn being laid to rest.

Taylor University President Eugene Habecker recalled visiting with Van Ryn’s parents, Don and Susie, at the hospital and praying for their daughter’s recovery.

“Her head was fully bandaged, and she of course was still unconscious,” Habecker said. “I asked Don if I could hold Laura’s hand and pray for her. We didn’t know it then, but I was actually holding Whitney’s hand.”

For several weeks, the world believed Cerak had died in the crash and Van Ryn had lived. But members of the Van Ryn family started to notice curious differences between their loved one and the injured young woman they were caring for. Five weeks after the crash, a therapist asked the young woman to write her name. She was able to spell out “Whitney.”

After mourning for five weeks, Whitney Cerak’s family were informed that Whitney was still alive. Laura Van Ryn’s family had to accept that Laura was gone.

Whitney’s sister, Carly later wrote:

“Soon after we saw Whitney, our family met with the Van Ryns and our joy for ourselves was pushed aside by the pain we felt for them. It is hard because our joy is their pain.”

After recovering from her injuries, Cerak returned and graduated from Taylor University a few years later. She married her longtime boyfriend, Matt Wheeler, and the couple have three children.”

Whitney Cerak (Wheeler) is expected to speak during another prayer service scheduled for Wednesday at Taylor University.  Her story was published in the book, Mistaken Identity.

If anyone knows the value of life, it would be Whitney Cerek.  As she states in her book, “I am the only person I know that has listened to her own funeral.”

The Rats of D.C.

He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. Matthew 12:30

It was a beautiful day but the storm was moving in quickly.  We raced to leave town to avoid lock-down, the snow was predicted to start falling in a few hours but right then it was a clear cold morning.  The March for Life had been on our radar, it was the primary original reason to travel through the mountains to this busy city.  The storm warnings were the talk of the town & everyone was planning their strategy to hunker down until it cleared.

We decided to pack up and move on out early, being stuck in a bustling town with little supplies didn’t sound appealing to either of us.  As we were working towards our exit, we remembered that we had traveled a long way and not seen the White House.  What a silly thing to tell people back home, that we drove hour upon hour and failed to see the residence of our nation’s top authority figure.

We turned the corner and the famous landmark came into view but suddenly something else caught my eye…people, and lots of them!  They were walking quickly towards their destination, in large masses, racing past the presidential house and towards the same direction; people from everywhere were gathering from nowhere.  They were on every street, every corner, every road…walking towards a purpose.

We started to follow.

We parked the car, my heart racing.  The home to the president anchored no interest to me all of a sudden, but these people…holding signs, singing, advertising life, invoked a deep stirring in my heart.  We parked the car and raced ahead towards this emotional detour.  The closer we got, the thicker it become.  Shoulder to shoulder at times, with like-minded individuals…all with homes, families, jobs, lives that they lived somewhere else, but took the time to stand and voice the same message.

Stop killing the little ones.

The March was thought provoking and heart wrenching.  Thousands upon thousands of people came and prayed, hoped, and believed, that man would finally be done at allowing our American babies to die.  I was hopeful, I was encouraged, I swore that when I got home I would play my part in stopping abortion in our country.

Then I sat down.

I sat on a bench and looked around.  I thought about what I was seeing, the snow beginning to fall…people of all ages and abilities crying out for the unborn, Washington Monument standing proudly on the hill above them.  My mind drifted off for just a second…

Then I felt it.

Pressure on my foot, something had crawled up on top of my right shoe and started nibbling at my pants.  For just a moment it didn’t really register and so I didn’t move, then my mind caught up with my body and I peered over my knee to see just what had taken residence over my insulated winter boot.  With no regard, the face of a rat looked up at me.  Stubborn and rude.

I kicked my leg out by natural instincts and I watched the long-tailed dirty rodent race off and crawl between the crack of a building nearby.

I stood up and paced in disbelief that a rat would just have the audacity to crawl up on top of my foot and sit there like it had the right to do that.  My husband came walking over and I confessed to him that I had just been introduced to the rats of D.C.  I realized then that there really was such a thing and that in order for the March for Life to be something that is no longer needed, we needed to get rid of the rats.

The more I look around at people in political office and those that support them, I see many that remind me of that downtown bench rat.  They come along quiet and sneaky, plop themselves down like they are justified, use you for their greater gain, and then look at you strangely when you tell them to get lost.  The great thing is, many of us are not from the city, instead of looking down and shrugging you off…we kick you out and make you leave.  Many of us who are watching are not accustomed to being a tool in your popularity contest.  We see through the thick fog of downtown and discern what your real intentions are.

We see how you gain support by telling lies.  We watch you peddle money around so you can push out the new-comers, we watch you fight for bills that have no purpose so that you can gain exposure.

They waste their energy on spinning around in circles, and that’s why the rats like them.  They stick around.  They play the game.  They like hearing their own voices.

Unfortunately for them, God sees this.

You can NOT serve two masters.

You can NOT love the world and love God.

You can NOT care more about yourself then the strangers around you.

If you do…you are NOT His.

Matthew 7:21-23 says, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.

Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’

“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’

Lots of people who are working in office are practicing lawlessness.  They claim they are Christians, stating they follow Christ and posts of sorts of Jesus content for others to see.  Their supporters say the same things & have the Bible lingo down-pat.  God is shifting his gears though, he is instructing His people to stop listening and start watching.

We are no longer listening to what they say, but instead watching what they do.

The message for them is clear.  Every time you support something good that has a bit of evil in it, you are forfeiting Christ.  Every time you compromise on what you know is right, to get a bit of something good..you are forfeiting Christ.  There is always a trade-off.

You will either trade your lawlessness for a Savior

or

You will trade God in for a lie.

Luke 11:23   “He who is not with Me is against Me.”

The fervor to stopping abortion is still gaining momentum in my heart and in the heart of this country, people are tired of those in charge being complacent.  There is a whisper of victory and an anthem flies over a small remnant who are ready to kick the rats out.  It is the duty of this nation to watch and remove them as God sees fit.

The rats of D.C. are breeding, they have over-run our city streets and our country roads.  All the while, we are watching, and our instincts are kicking in.  They continue to plan, plot, and submerge themselves into individual self-gain.  Our God is much greater then this travesty and although He may allow a rat to sit down thinking he has the right to take territory, God owns the cattle on a thousand hills, he owns the hills, he owns the land and sea, sun and heavens.  He owns the territory that the rat rests, He owns it all.

And He will take back this land because of one simple point we tend to forget.

He owns the rats.

Book Review: Breaking Busy

Breaking Busy

This week I was supposed to write a book review on the title, Breaking Busy by Alli Worthington…but I was way to busy to take a look at it.  It’s ironic the things that are on my to do list sometimes.  🙂

I finally took the time to read it through, and I’m glad I did.

This season of my life is beyond busy…it’s a tiresome fast-paced race, and most days I feel like I am sprinting along with bare feet.  I’m beat up, yet I am determined to finish the tasks I have in front of me and so I keep running, my hair in a bun, out of breath, with my face beat red…full speed ahead!

But, yesterday I collapsed…and so I picked up Breaking Busy.

Here is what Alli Worthington did for me:

1. She reminded me that I am NOT June Cleaver.
2. She nudged me to analyze my friendships & invest in the ones that produce fruit.
3. She complemented me on how I am unique from every person in this world and whispered to me that I have great worth.
4. She told me that getting rid of good things in my life sometimes makes room for GREAT things!
5. She convinced me that God does always have a place of rest for me in my busy day.

and lastly in her own words, Alli suggested this truth to me,
“A busy life is a life the enemy has created in order to keep me from God’s purpose.  A full life, on the other hand, is a life lived in step with what God has called me to do.”

I know this is a short review, because my busy life is calling me away as I type, BUT…I will approach it differently because of Breaking Busy.  I will intentionally keep God as my primary focus and evaluate a bit better everything that pleads for my attention.

If you are a busy wife, mother, women, pick up a copy of Breaking Busy.  Alli, not only has the capacity and experience to offer some wisdom, but she also ices it with a bit of humor, which we should always have time for.

Let MY Children Go

Let my children go!

Moses is dipped out of the water, raised in an Egyptian family and later is on the run.

He leaves his people behind, scared of the demise that is awaiting him, because he earlier murdered a Egyptian slave driver.

And his people cry & die, and years go by.

One day Moe is taking a walk and sees a bush on fire.  From it comes words speaking to him, and because it’s an absolute remarkable experience, he knows that it is God.

The Lord’s voice bellows to Moses a command that he wants to reject.  The deal is that Moses would go back to Egypt and demand from the Pharaoh to let Moses’ family, the Israelite’s, go free.  Stop killing them, stop enslaving them, stop disregarding their lives, and let-them-go!

Did Moses say no?

He sure wanted to.  He said things like, “are you sure you want ME to go?…maybe you would like someone else, someone with better speaking skills?”  This infuriated the Lord, it says He burned with anger against Moses.  But he allowed patience and equipped Moses with what Mo thought he needed…a staff & his brother Aaron to help him out.

All Moses really needed was God.  God knew that.  Moses didn’t.

Many people are commissioned by God to go out and make a difference in life.  Few say yes, many say no.  He asks all sorts of people to do all sorts of things for His glory.

What if Moses would have said this instead:

“Uh…God, I really don’t think it’s the right time.  I mean this guy is really mean, let’s wait until we get a nicer Pharaoh in power and then maybe then we could approach him with some confidence…He’s just gonna say no.  I’ve been around these people and know how they work.  I have lots of experience with them and the system they have going on over there, they are never going to go for it!  If I ask, he most likely will make it harder on everyone there, might even undo anything my family has worked so hard for.  This is gonna make things harder, not better.  It’s an awful idea!  I think we should just wait for the right time and until then I can try to reason with him, maybe trying to get a few out, but all of them….that’s just not going to happen!”

It’s a good thing that Moe didn’t say that, but it’s common for us to reason with God in that sort of dialogue when we forget a simple truth…Pharaoh was not bigger than God.

For those that fight the good fight, don’t be discouraged when you are up against a giant.  God may ask you to go but He will be with you.  It wasn’t Moses’ staff that created the miracles that swayed Pharaoh to cave, it was God.  It wasn’t Aaron’s speech that helped the cause, it was the Creator who made Aaron to have a mouth and a voice.  It’s easy to look at things and inch our way towards our goals with caution.

Sometimes though, God will do something extraordinary and burn His words right through your heart…and the next thing you know, you will be standing in the high courts demanding,

“LET MY CHILDREN GO!!”

The 8,000 Shackles of the Heartbeat Bill

8000 shackles of the heartbeat bill

Most people are bound by something or someone.  The clasp from their shackles are tight and the technique to get them off is well beyond using a ordinary key.  The power of influence, money, & name recognition can move you forward at a quick pace.  Indiana Legislators are not only bound by their constituents, but they are also bound by groups/organizations/corporations who have helped them get elected.  These groups use finances to influence votes, woo voters,  & advance their goals.

As much as Legislators should work for their designated areas & designated residents, unfortunately  most do not.  They instead are bought and paid for by large organizations that will benefit by the election moving in their favor.  It’s not a big secret, we just don’t talk about it.

The abortion issue is obviously a hot topic every year, as day by day 22 children die in Indiana, and many more across our nation.  Each legislative session, bills are filed and some move forward to a vote, very slowly regulating the act of abortion in our state.  Legislators file bills that try and slow down the death rate ever year.   This year a bill was filed in both the Indiana House & the Senate called the Heartbeat Bill.

The bill plainly says that if a heartbeat is detected the baby is protected.  A beating heart is an indicator of life, and a darn good one.  It’s simple, it’s either beating or not, and if it can be detected…then the child is alive.  If people don’t want to call it a child that is fine, call it whatever you want, but it is alive, & it is human, there is no argument there.  So, after a heartbeat is detected you legally can not kill human life.  That would be rationalizing murder, which is against the law.  The only exception is if the mother faces fatality.

Today I sat in the Allen County Right To Life Legislative Forum.  On the panel up front was Senator David Long, Senator Travis Holdman, and Rep. Casey Cox.  Also on the panel was Right To Life’s Lobbyist, Sue Swayze.  We heard about the anti-abortion bills they filed and pushed this year.  One basically says that if you have a miscarriage or abortion the baby deserves a proper burial.  The second one says you can’t abort a child due to a genetic diagnosis, such as Down Syndrome, and once the child is born, if needed, they provide hospice care.

I have nothing against either bill, I actually testified in committee for the burial bill.  I do however have questions regarding both.  Why does RTL and their famous Legislators focus on such small incremental bills?  While they fight for a bill to properly bury child, why not also fight for them not to die in the first place.  Is it ok that dead babies are thrown in landfills or as disposable waste?  Absolutely not!  But why would that be their main focus, when we had the Heartbeat Bill which could have saved 8000 children that will die this year?

The 2nd bill has me just as aggravated.  Why focus on such a small minority of people?  I love people, I especially love my son who was born with 22Q deletion, which is a somewhat opposite of Downs.  Instead of having an extra chromosome, he is missing one.  So I understand the worth of these babies…all babies.  But why only focus on this group?  Why not a mass majority?  How many reported women abort their babies due to genetic/fatal diagnosis’ for the child?  I’m sure there are some, but no where near 90%

Heartbeat was not supported by Right To Life.  Its no big secret.  That was made clear this morning at the meeting, when Sue Swayze stated her case against it.   I’ve never outwardly stated it but every person who was aware of the bill probably knows, especially those who paid any kind of attention.  Jim Bopp, National RTL’s Counsel, testified against the bill in Ohio a few years back and our Indiana lobbyist made sure that legislators had access to that written testimony before we even filed the bill at the statehouse.  Today Senator Holdman explained to the audience how a bill become a law.  He stated that when a Senate bill is filed, it goes to the Pro  Temproe (David Long.)  Sen. Long then places the bill into a committee.  Once there, Mr. Long has the authority to tell the Chair of the committee which bills he would like to hear.  Heartbeat made it to the Health Committee, then into the trashcan.

It baffles me why we were refused a hearing on the bill.  It is either that there is  great reasoning or that the shackles may be on way too tight.

The introductions for each Legislator on the panel today was labeled as, “brave..never wavering..and non-apologetic.”  It was tough sitting there looking at the bill slayers and hearing an audience applaud all their good work, knowing they had the power to wad up heartbeat, place it in their red bio-hazard bag and toss it in the state dump.

Legislators have been swayed on the account of one attorney, Jim Bopp, refuting the bill due to these main two points:

  1. He says the Federal Court will kick it out.
  2. He says the Federal Court will undo prior pro-life legislation due to Heartbeat.

All of that sounds sooo scary.  But here is some facts to consider.  Heartbeat was kicked out of the Federal Courts in two states.  Both states have similar bills but they are not the same as ours, we use a completely different language.  Getting it kicked out of Federal Courts isn’t such a bad thing anyway, nothing passes unless they know we are serious and persistent, that’s the whole point of sending it to DC and having it heard.  The point here is to TRY!  Another point Sue made today was that we need a conservative President & officials in the capital to do something like Heartbeat.  I agree with that, but we have no way to predict who will be there and what they will do.  Again, not doing something, is doing something.  It screams volumes to people like me sitting in the forum today wondering what in the world is going on.  You have the most pro-life group not supporting the most pro-life bill.  Not only that, but working against it in the secret halls of the statehouse.  Is anyone else perplexed about that?

Indiana’s bill was designed by two key players.  The first guy is Walter Weber.  Walter is the Senior Litigation Counsel for the American Center for Law & Justice.  He also has done over 100 briefs at the Supreme Court and practiced Constitutional Law for over 25 years.  The second guy is Prof. David Forte.  David is also a Constitutional Lawyer of over 30 years, been appointed Chief Counsel to the US Delegation to the United Nations & a Constitutional Law Professor.  They say yes…Jim Bopp says no.

He states it would undo legislation.  It’s been said a “promise” has been made that if we send a bill like this their way, it would be detrimental to the movement.  There is no record of this promise.  No one seems to know who said it or to whom they said it to.  The same argument was made when the partial birth abortion bill went forward.  It’s always the same arguments.

Here’s the points I’d like people to understand, when viability was put in place medical technology was limited.  Now we have the availability to so much more and can see a heartbeat very early in a pregnancy.  It shows us there is life in the womb.  Viability is not a good marker and it’s time for it to be removed & replaced.  The courts will never change their mind unless we ask…and if needed we must ask over and over until it is done.  It’s worth it to the 8,000 Hoosier Babies that will die this year.  It should be worth it to all of us.

It sure would have been good to see a fair debate on this bill, but due to the Statehouse trashcan, we didn’t get that far.

A really well known guy in the pro-life movement is Dr. Jack Wilke.  Mr Wilke was the founder of Right to Life.  Here is a nice video of him standing with Janet Folger Porter in Ohio after he had testified on behalf of Heartbeat. Wilke’s Heartbeat Award

If you support RTL it is VERY important for you to watch this video.

Is it odd that the founder of Right to Life says YES…and Right to Life opposes the bill?

Mr. Wilke says yes…RTL says no.

I’ve been told to step aside and let the professionals do the work.  It’s a bit disheartening to hear the whisper of rumors that float around about Heartbeat inside the pro-life family.  Fingers point my direction accusing me of dividing the movement.  Nothing has broke my heart more than the day I sat across the table from RTL staff and told they don’t “oppose” the bill but would certainly testify against it.  The division was already made and it wasn’t by me.

I understand the credentials of lobbyists who spend time and talent at the Statehouse swaying Legislators to vote a certain way.  We hear the stories as they convey all the great things they have done to limit abortion in the state.  I obviously don’t have the education or experience they have in moving things forward, but I do have emotion.  When they explained to me that education trumps emotion, I was a bit taken back.  I really didn’t know what to say.

Later I realized that emotion was a treasure to have.  If there is no emotion in stopping abortion then why would you drive the bus to make it illegal?  I look all through history and see emotional nobody’s like me doing great somethings.  I don’t underestimate the power of compassion, empathy, and grief over children and I would dare to say that it is an essential tool in fighting abortion.

I write this article to confess I am bound as well.  I have shackles on my ankles that I wish were not there, everyday I look for the key to take them off but it’s nearly impossible.  My bondage isn’t about money, power, or notability.  I am a housewife from Indiana that travels to the Statehouse, lobbying for free, and for no personal gain.  What holds me captive is simply the cries of the 8,000 children that will die in 2016 because we didn’t succeed with Heartbeat.  I also confess I will keep my shackles on until they cry no more.

The Pleading Ruler & His Dead Daughter

photo-1446104487198-e3c730dc3fee

Jairus’ baby girl was dying. His only daughter, a 12 yr old apple of his eye, was struggling to sustain her life.  His only chance was to plead for someone to heal her, someone who had the ability.  This wasn’t easy considering Jairus was a well known leader/teacher in the community and didn’t normally need to plead to anyone for anything. This was different though, this was out of his reach..out of his control..out of his power. He loved this girl and was willing to do what it took to attain hope for his sweet one.

The pleading ruler went to Jesus, fell down…because that’s what pleading people do, and begged. But he was interrupted.

Another need arose that claimed the Healers attention and Dairus stay on the ground, assuming a posture of despair. While Jesus was finishing up healing the heart & body of women who had chronic bleeding, & explaining to her that faith was the key power agent in her healing, a man rushed over from Dairus’ house & told the ruler his daughter was dead.

In his most passionless solemn of voices, the man said, “don’t bother the teacher anymore…”  A big sigh, through tears and disappointment, he had came to Dairus to simply pick him up off the ground and tell him it was over.

Don’t bother seeking hope, don’t bother having faith, what’s done is done…and it is completely over.  There is nothing more to do.

This perked Jesus’ ears.

Jesus says two things to the pleading ruler.

#1. Don’t be scared
#2. Believe

So, Jesus most likely reached his hand out to the wretched man, helped him lift up his heavy load of a body, and walked with him to his home where the girl lay lifeless.

When they arrive at the man’s house Jesus tells everyone to stay outside except the girls mother & father and 3 of Jesus’ friends.  The 6 of them go in to the dead girl.

Here is a quick run down of what happens next:

All of them begin to cry.
Jesus tells them to stop it.
He says, “She is not dead, she is only sleeping.”
They begin to laugh at Jesus.
They start ridiculing him, all of them.
He makes them all go outside.
He grabs the little girls hand.
Jesus tells her to get up.
Her spirit returns to her.
She gets up.
She’s hungry and eats probably the best meal of her life.

End of story.

And there you have it… a great equation stuck right in the middle of Luke Chapter 8.

COURAGE + BELIEF IN JESUS= LIFE

For thousands of years the Spirit of God has renewed the spirit of man.  As Jesus enters any situation, regardless of the degree of tragedy, He brings hope, life, peace, and sometimes a really good dinner.  It doesn’t matter what your past contains or how much despair lays right in front of you; Jesus can transform it into something that brings life!

As the crowd laughs on at your faith, shut the door.  PUT THEM OUTSIDE!
Stand next to the bed and watch Jesus take the hand of something that’s overcome with death and call it into life.  Don’t miss the moment.  Don’t be cast outside with the unbelieving bunch; stay close to Jesus and watch His voice conquer all bondage and burden.

You can be the witness to what He’s been doing all along, through all of time…creating hope!
Whatever you are facing…set your pride aside and run to the Hope-Carrier, Dream-Maker, Life-Giver.
He is Jesus.

An 11 yr. old girl is interviewed about abortion

11 year old girl discusses abortion

Yesterday I interviewed an 11 year old girl about abortion.  Here is our dialogue.

Me: Do you know what abortion is?

Her: It’s where a mom kills her baby

Me: Do you think that is wrong?

Her: Yes, why would someone do that?

Me: How do you know it is wrong?

Her: Because your killing someone and the Bible says in the 10 Commandments not to murder.

Me: What if a person doesn’t believe in the Bible, is it ok to do it then?

Her: They should still know better and if they didn’t wan’t it they should give it to someone who does.

Me: What if people say, “It’s not really a baby”

Her: What else would it be?

Me: Some people say that it’s not a baby, it’s more like a blob…they call it a fetus instead of a child.

Her: Go to the Doctor and have an ultrasound, you can see it’s a baby.  Then you will know it’s not fake.

Me: When you hear the heartbeat of something, an animal or person, what does that mean?

Her: That it’s alive.

Me: What if on the ultrasound it doesn’t look like a baby?

Her: What else could it be?

Me: Can a women have anything else in her womb that has a heartbeat?

Her: Uh….no.  That’s a dumb question.  She can only have another person in there.

Me: What if man made a law to say that it’s ok for women to kill their babies if they want to and can not get in trouble for it, now is it ok?

Her: No, you don’t kill your own baby because someone says you can.

That was the extent of the interview because after the last question she rolled her eyes and huffed as it was the dumbest concept in the world, and ran off to do something else.  Children understand how blatantly obscene it is to advertise, allow, & encourage abortion.  What has happened to the hearts of men that they have adapted this mindset that killing people is somehow permissible?

God cares about the children.  He will end this madness and make known what men have forgotten…that man was never given permission to kill innocent children.
