Book Review: Bible Basics, A Baby Believer Counting Primer

Book Review:  Bible Basics by Danielle Hitchen

If you know me well, you know I like children.

If you know me better, you know I like books.

When a good children’s book that I really enjoy comes my way, I keep it in my kids’ library forever.

Recently I was able to get a copy of a new book by Danielle Hitchen called Bible Basics, A Baby Believer Counting Primer.  This one I will have around in our family library for a very long time!

The book serves several purposes that I can use with my small boys during reading time.

First, this book is laid out nicely in 10 lessons.  It has ten thick board pages, each with the lesson number placed in the top corner of the left page.  It easily reminds my boys of their numbers and how far we are into the book…and how much longer we have to go until we get to the end.

Secondly,   the right side of each section is beautifully crafted to visualize each biblical truth.  While on the left there is more detailed information of the same subject.

For example:  In the 8th lesson the author is teaching about the Beatitudes.  On the left side of the book, the page contains the number eight and the lesson title.  It also drafts the details of the Beatitudes by listing in detail what they are and where they can be found.  This is great for my 5 year old who understands more.

On the opposite side the artist, Jessica Blanchard, creates a visual aid that makes reciting and memorizing the Beatitudes easier for younger children.  This is done in such a way that keeps my 3 yr old engaged and eager to see the next page.

All the pages of this book are displayed with colorful art and detail that make it easy to enjoy.

All in all, this is a well crafted piece that helps create the foundation for biblical growth and understanding while our children are able to absorb so much information.  It lays out essential truths including the basic building blocks of knowing who God is, who Jesus is, and the fundamental elements of the Christian faith.

By using the pictures along with the language of the bill, it increases the opportunity for children to learn quickly inside a fun creative atmosphere.  This book also poses great moments after each lesson for questions to be asked and answered.

The Bible Basics book is built well in physical and spiritual regard.  It will be a good resource for both parent and child in any home or school book collection.

**Thank you to the Blythe Daniel Agency for allowing me and my boys to enjoy and review this book 🙂

Indiana Strongest Life Bill Has Been Filed

HB1134 Has Been Filed- Will Lawmakers Make Protecting The Unborn A Priority This Year?

Hoosiers for Life

That is the question of the year! In the months leading up to session, state leadership has not hesitated or been shy about telling us what they are focusing on this year in the 2017 legislative session.

The question is, what about what WE want the focus to be?

Each lawmaker represents thousands of conservative Hoosiers and outside of Indiana’s unborn, their voices are some of the most silenced in the state. The people of Indiana have watched for years the regulation of abortion, now is the time to do something more…now is the time to stop it once and for good, and state leadership says they want to focus on slowing down the smoking rate and raise taxes for road construction instead.

The session started yesterday and at 10am David Long announced his big agenda, and although he will tell you that it’s important to save the babies, he will not make it a priority this year.

Long said recently regarding Curt Nisly’s abortion bill… “Whether that has a chance of seeing daylight or not just depends on a lot of factors – the appetite of your caucus on whether you really want to talk about that,”

The appetite of the caucus??

When did their agenda become more important then our agenda?

What about the appetite of the people?

Why doesn’t dying Hoosier children create a hunger for liberty in the caucus?

When are the people going to start to matter again?

When are we going to say WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH?

This will all change when the people demand to be heard!

You can’t just assume that your Senator and your Representative is representing you well. Don’t just assume that they remember you when they are doing the people’s business. We have to keep them accountable and remind them how we feel about things.

Do you know where your lawmaker stands on the Protection at Conception Bill? Do they give you the rhetoric of how “all life is important but…. state agenda, taxes, not the right time, the Supreme Court isn’t ready…” Or do they stand firm for the unborn and say that they will stand?

There are about 8400+ Hoosier babies that will otherwise die to abortion if these men and women don’t stand up and do the right thing! This time they use their abilities to stop it. This time there are no more excuses. This time we will see who is really pro-life and who just says it during election campaigns.

Let the revealing begin!

Hoosiers for Life Protection at Conception Bill

An Indianapolis newspaper said this recently:House Speaker Brian Bosma repeatedly emphasizes that his caucus won’t be focused on the potential abortion bill.

“You know, no bills have been filed in the House yet so who even knows if it’s going to be filed? As I said earlier today, my focus is going to be on infrastructure, a responsible budget, pre-kindergarten, some public safety issues – this is where our time is going to be focused,” Bosma says. House and Senate Democratic leaders urged their GOP colleagues to avoid such hot-button issues. (wfyi news)

Indiana voters know exactly what is happening here.
No one in Indy is going to listen unless we are the loudest thing that they hear! Please support our efforts and join us in this fight! While one child is worth all our efforts, 8400+ should make us stop everything and race to be the rescue!

Together we can save Hoosiers Babies,

Does Wendy Davis tell the truth?

wendy davis and her lies

The Headline insinuated that Notre Dame was promoting abortion, and it was a pretty truthful title as this Catholic school sponsored abortion activist, Wendy Davis, to come encourage her ideas with firm confidence.  The first paragraph of the www.lifesitenews article said this…

SOUTH BEND, Indiana, April 5, 2016 – “Prominent abortion activist and former Texas gubernatorial candidate, Wendy Davis, promoted abortion in a scheduled speech at Notre Dame Monday night, prompting criticism that the university had again betrayed its Catholic identity.”

Once again our higher education facilities have pushed aside Catholic values, Christian values, Conservative values.  Students have long said that being a conservative in a Christian College isn’t much different then paying the fees to go to a liberal campus.  This should be no surprise to us.

Indiana’s battleground is being prepared.  Dug outs are carved, supplies are being shipped in, ammo is divided up and being reproduced, artillery is in place, and the stage is being set for intense full-arm attacks.  Truth against lies.  Hate against love.  Life against death.  The soldiers are risking their lives, pledging an allegiance to something much greater then themselves, and armoring up.  They lace up their boots, climb into the hole….and wait.  Watching.  Each movement they sense, they are equipped to counter-attack.  Every breath they breathe is heard with intensity as they know that one wrong move, or the give-away of their position, could lose them the war.  They have their sight on the target.  They never waver, never give up, never quit.

It’s a fierce army.

The problem is…its not our army.

As the war-time strategies are laid out on the table and key players are walking around it planning attacks, the American Christians take a nap.  There is no need for a Trojan horse, they just open the doors to our cities and homes and say, “come on in.”

Come lie to us.  Come corrupt our children.  Come be our friends.

They throw our arms up in a full yawn & stretch with eyes half open, while they take away our faith, family, & freedom.

When sleepy Christian goes to church on Sunday, he slumps into the pew and watches the clock.  He is alive while he is dead.

The breath in his lungs may make him technically alive but it doesn’t guarantee that he is actually living.  Death is more then just leaving this earth, you can function here and be dead to your fellow people, country, and God at the same time.

Wendy Davis is just an example of a soldier in the trench.  She has an agenda and she preformed well.  Here are some of her comments from yesterday’s invited speech at Notre Dame.

Wendy says, “I was post-20 weeks of pregnancy of a much-wanted pregnancy that I had waited years to have, and … our very much-wanted child was suffering from a fatal fetal brain abnormality,” she said.  “What we were told was that if our child survived delivery, which she would likely not, that she would live a life of tremendous suffering — if she lived long at all — and we made a decision out of love.”

Human Life International responded to her comment by saying this, “Abortion of children because of their disabilities is “nothing more than eugenics, discrimination of the basest kind,  Even if a baby will die shortly after she is born, what is a more civilized response — to hold and love her in the short time she has on this earth, or cut her apart with a vacuum curettage machine?” HLI’s statement continued. “It is easy to love the perfect; but how much we are willing to give to the imperfect is the true measure of love.”

What happened to the natural instinct of motherhood?  Where did it go?

I know a beautiful girl named Violet, who parents were told that she was going to die shortly after birth.  The love of her mother and father spoke beautiful blessings over this girl while in the womb, and when she was born they held her close until she passed away.  Her parents grieved, everyone did, but nothing like they would have if Violet would have been dismembered piece by piece and thrown into the garbage.  Violet’s mother valued her.  Violet’s mother loved her.  Wendy lies when she says that her decision was made out of love, love doesn’t look like that.

Davis also used her appearance to describe Planned Parenthood as a substantial women’s healthcare provider, saying that abortion allowed her to get to where she was in life, where her mother and grandmother had not the opportunity.

The Notre Dame Gender Studies called Davis “a modern-day Texas heroine”

Her lies are not really the aspect of the battle that concerns me the most.  It is rather the reaction that came afterwards.  After she was done talking the students and staff gave her a standing ovation.

The church raised their hands and said, “tell me more…”

On the open grounds of confrontation, their army is mighty.  Their eye is on the prize.  On our side, there is a few of us, rugged and wore out; ready to fight to the end.  The situation is building, every single day there is word that it’s almost time for head to head combat.  The Church has two choices…Put your boots on and get dirty, or pull your pew up to the sidelines and watch your friends get slaughtered.

When we are down with the enemies boots on our neck, maybe then you will wake up from your nap and see what is happening around you.  Maybe then you will stand next to your brother and fight.

When the men come running over the hill carrying a flag, I hope and pray that it is ours.

The Rats of D.C.

He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. Matthew 12:30

It was a beautiful day but the storm was moving in quickly.  We raced to leave town to avoid lock-down, the snow was predicted to start falling in a few hours but right then it was a clear cold morning.  The March for Life had been on our radar, it was the primary original reason to travel through the mountains to this busy city.  The storm warnings were the talk of the town & everyone was planning their strategy to hunker down until it cleared.

We decided to pack up and move on out early, being stuck in a bustling town with little supplies didn’t sound appealing to either of us.  As we were working towards our exit, we remembered that we had traveled a long way and not seen the White House.  What a silly thing to tell people back home, that we drove hour upon hour and failed to see the residence of our nation’s top authority figure.

We turned the corner and the famous landmark came into view but suddenly something else caught my eye…people, and lots of them!  They were walking quickly towards their destination, in large masses, racing past the presidential house and towards the same direction; people from everywhere were gathering from nowhere.  They were on every street, every corner, every road…walking towards a purpose.

We started to follow.

We parked the car, my heart racing.  The home to the president anchored no interest to me all of a sudden, but these people…holding signs, singing, advertising life, invoked a deep stirring in my heart.  We parked the car and raced ahead towards this emotional detour.  The closer we got, the thicker it become.  Shoulder to shoulder at times, with like-minded individuals…all with homes, families, jobs, lives that they lived somewhere else, but took the time to stand and voice the same message.

Stop killing the little ones.

The March was thought provoking and heart wrenching.  Thousands upon thousands of people came and prayed, hoped, and believed, that man would finally be done at allowing our American babies to die.  I was hopeful, I was encouraged, I swore that when I got home I would play my part in stopping abortion in our country.

Then I sat down.

I sat on a bench and looked around.  I thought about what I was seeing, the snow beginning to fall…people of all ages and abilities crying out for the unborn, Washington Monument standing proudly on the hill above them.  My mind drifted off for just a second…

Then I felt it.

Pressure on my foot, something had crawled up on top of my right shoe and started nibbling at my pants.  For just a moment it didn’t really register and so I didn’t move, then my mind caught up with my body and I peered over my knee to see just what had taken residence over my insulated winter boot.  With no regard, the face of a rat looked up at me.  Stubborn and rude.

I kicked my leg out by natural instincts and I watched the long-tailed dirty rodent race off and crawl between the crack of a building nearby.

I stood up and paced in disbelief that a rat would just have the audacity to crawl up on top of my foot and sit there like it had the right to do that.  My husband came walking over and I confessed to him that I had just been introduced to the rats of D.C.  I realized then that there really was such a thing and that in order for the March for Life to be something that is no longer needed, we needed to get rid of the rats.

The more I look around at people in political office and those that support them, I see many that remind me of that downtown bench rat.  They come along quiet and sneaky, plop themselves down like they are justified, use you for their greater gain, and then look at you strangely when you tell them to get lost.  The great thing is, many of us are not from the city, instead of looking down and shrugging you off…we kick you out and make you leave.  Many of us who are watching are not accustomed to being a tool in your popularity contest.  We see through the thick fog of downtown and discern what your real intentions are.

We see how you gain support by telling lies.  We watch you peddle money around so you can push out the new-comers, we watch you fight for bills that have no purpose so that you can gain exposure.

They waste their energy on spinning around in circles, and that’s why the rats like them.  They stick around.  They play the game.  They like hearing their own voices.

Unfortunately for them, God sees this.

You can NOT serve two masters.

You can NOT love the world and love God.

You can NOT care more about yourself then the strangers around you.

If you do…you are NOT His.

Matthew 7:21-23 says, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.

Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’

“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’

Lots of people who are working in office are practicing lawlessness.  They claim they are Christians, stating they follow Christ and posts of sorts of Jesus content for others to see.  Their supporters say the same things & have the Bible lingo down-pat.  God is shifting his gears though, he is instructing His people to stop listening and start watching.

We are no longer listening to what they say, but instead watching what they do.

The message for them is clear.  Every time you support something good that has a bit of evil in it, you are forfeiting Christ.  Every time you compromise on what you know is right, to get a bit of something are forfeiting Christ.  There is always a trade-off.

You will either trade your lawlessness for a Savior

You will trade God in for a lie.

Luke 11:23   “He who is not with Me is against Me.”

The fervor to stopping abortion is still gaining momentum in my heart and in the heart of this country, people are tired of those in charge being complacent.  There is a whisper of victory and an anthem flies over a small remnant who are ready to kick the rats out.  It is the duty of this nation to watch and remove them as God sees fit.

The rats of D.C. are breeding, they have over-run our city streets and our country roads.  All the while, we are watching, and our instincts are kicking in.  They continue to plan, plot, and submerge themselves into individual self-gain.  Our God is much greater then this travesty and although He may allow a rat to sit down thinking he has the right to take territory, God owns the cattle on a thousand hills, he owns the hills, he owns the land and sea, sun and heavens.  He owns the territory that the rat rests, He owns it all.

And He will take back this land because of one simple point we tend to forget.

He owns the rats.

Smart Gift Giving…some of my favorites

In less than a month from now the kids will be running down the stairs, the floor will be covered in ripped wrapping paper, and the cat will be hiding under the chair wondering what just happened to our normal quiet morning routine.  Christmas morning is almost here!

I am a huge procrastinator with buying gifts & everyone here knows it.  I usually wait until 3 days before and pay the highway robbery overnight shipping.  I race through our local department store on Christmas Eve, along with all the other parents who put it off, showing my fake festive smile & desperate attempt to be holiday Mom of the year at home.

I’ve just never enjoyed it really.  It’s like being in busy traffic…I don’t like the rush, the sales, the crowds, the withdraws from my account that we so earnestly try to keep something in.  So, I have formed a plan…a list.  A small compilation of my idea of shopping with ease.  The thing that helps me most is online shopping & products that I really really love.  Products that I would buy anyway.  Products that have meaning, gifts with purpose, something that will have use over and over again.

That is why I thought I would share my smart gift giving links and tell you all of my favorite items!

No, I do not get any kick-back for any endorsing done here.  I did get a kiss on the cheek from my sister, as a thank you for sharing her business, but other than that, I’m just a Momma trying not to overcrowd my house with junk; and who wants to spend money a bit wiser this year.

I’m picky what I buy my kids, they have more toys then an overstocked day a the local Goodwill.  They are good on clothes as well.  I usually revert to buying what I don’t want to buy for them…toys and clothes!  This year however I am going to focus more on books and fun necessities.  I are probably thinking books are boring, they sure cant warrant the same reaction as unwrapping a new iPhone.  For the big day I’m sure you want to open doll houses, monster trucks, and lego towers BUT these books are super nice & a great alternative, easy for me…my boys really like them.

My sister is a UsBorne Books Distributor.

I’m an ex-homeschooling Mom so books are in abundant in our home but some of these books are more like toys.

The Shine A Light Series books are fantastic.  The gist is that you read the page, then shine a light..flashlight, light from phone, etc; on the back side of the page and secret pictures come through.  Oooohh Ahhhhh.. the kids love it.

They also have the Look Inside books on several subjects containing bright pictures and lots of information.

My kiddos particularly liked the pop up jungle book.  Everyday…hundreds of times a day, they would bring me the jungle book so I could read it with big expressions while turning each page allowing monkeys, tigers, and other jungle creatures to JUMP out at them.  Recently I found the monkey, snake, and part of the Lion’s jaw on the floor in the play room.  My boys!!  Mighty jungle warriors!!

parental supervision on pop up books suggested  (smile!)

There are hundreds of books to choose from, and lots of videos online that give you a look at them in detail so you know what you are buying before buying.  Here is a link to her site if you would like to tromp around and check things out:  UsBorne Books

Another New favorite of mine is Exfolia Ministries

smart gift giving My daughter is just at that age that makeup is NOT going to happen but tinted lip gloss, salt scrubs, & body creams can happen.

The line of products are unique, fresh, and for a lack of better words…cool!

My first shipment came in & I was in love!  I bought body butter for my toddler with extreme excema, and 1 body butter for me.  I bought a salt scrub for a gift, and one salt scrub for me.  I bought one roll-on oil for a gift, and one for me.  I bought one lip gloss as a gift…and well, 3 for me.  Are you seeing my trend?

I honestly love it all.  I adore that it’s made as a family at a local kitchen table, that it’s a family activitiy…trying new things with the kids.

100% go to stop trafficking

INDIANA HEARTBEAT BILL & The Secret Life of Janet Porter

Indiana Heartbeat Bill

Abortion has been legal now for 42 years. Even though Norma McCorvey (Jane Roe from Roe vs. Wade) has now devoted her life to the Pro-Life pursuit of stopping death, the law still stands.

Life goes on…for some. For others, they have no protection.  The once “safest place on earth” has become a replica of a bloody battlefront.  And many of us shake our heads and say with sad eyes, “It’s too bad, someone should do something.”

Someone is doing something

Her name is Janet Porter.  She’s an everyday average American who loves good food, great music, traveling, and rich conversation.  She lives in a somewhat secluded Ohio neighborhood enjoying the deer in her backyard and, while biting her tongue, raking the neighbors leaves off her grass.  She is a believer in Jesus Christ and all good things, she is open about her communication & relationship with the Lord and it appears that God has great favor on her.

Janet Porter has a secret life however.  Tucked away in her Ohio home she displays things that the general public may not know…may not see.

Janet is famous among people.  Google her name, you will find her easily.  She has been called lots of names, lots of things, she has been misinterpreted and attacked from every angle.  If you believed everything you read you would be misguided into thinking that this women is a trouble-maker and likes the public eye.

But that is the furthest thing from the truth.

Janet has stood in the gap for thousands of murdered children for the last 5 years in Ohio.  You would think people would applaud that, support her, and come-alongside such a great cause.  Unfortunately, instead many are mad because she chooses to fight against abortion.  This is something we see often in the world, and something I refuse to ever understand.  It’s an upside down place we live in.

Mrs. Porter has a authoritative voice when she talks about abortion.  Her wisdom and knowledge of this arena is beyond experience.  It is divine.  She has a small room in her home where she wars for these children through prayer…created well before the War Room movie was ever released.  For years, she has privately, spent thousands of hours in a secret place in her home pleading for the lives of children she has never known.  Her walls are filled with prayers, praise, and purpose.  She finds her direction in this place, her strategy…her peace, when it comes to fighting a fight that sometimes looks impossible.  It is here, that she is reminded, that the public does not get to define her.

The secret life of Janet Porter starts early in the morning and sometimes continues into the late of night, petitioning for life.  Everyday she devotes her time, talent, & treasure to the Ohio Heartbeat Bill and seeing it pass through the Ohio courts.  Her dream of rescuing children is stronger now then ever before.  With teary eyes, she tells amazing stories from the journey…and then with expectation, she speaks of the coming victory.

This is someone who has decided do something.  She is in the trenches of a mighty battle.

Recently the state of Indiana has came across this trench, looked down inside, saw Janet, and hopped in alongside her.  The Indiana Heartbeat Bill will stop over 8,000 pre-born Hoosiers from being murdered every year.  We can potentially be the next state to introduce this bill and have it pass through the courts.

Hoosiers what to be different!  Hoosiers want to stand up for the right of all life!  Hoosiers care about Hoosier Babies!

I am honored to be a part of this great calling…

The biggest lie going around right now is that abortion is a political issue…it has never been a political issue, IT IS ONLY A MORAL ISSUE & ALL CHRISTIANS SHOULD BE INVOLVED IN THIS FIGHT.

Let’s be Defenders of Life!  If you walk across the battleground & look down into the trench, I will be there.  If I reach out my hand to you..will you hop inside with me??

Please “like” the Heartbeat Bill and support Indiana as we go forward.  We need defenders of the unborn to stand up in each state, your state could be next!
